The Future of Logo Design, AI & Building a Creative Career
Good company. Wherever you are.
Behind the conversation
What makes a logo worth more than a quick generation? Cj Cawley joins Howard for a conversation about craft, storytelling, and the person behind the portfolio.
Cj opens up about a difficult childhood, finding safety in drawing and skate culture, and learning to believe he could build a different life. He shares how his partner’s support and talking openly about mental health helped him rethink what success could look like.
They explore his approach to brand identities, why solving the client’s problem matters more than imposing a signature style, and his Melting Man project. Cj makes the case for human judgment and hands-on craft in an AI-driven industry, while drawing a distinction between tools that remove tedious tasks and tools that take over the parts of design he loves.
Community questions bring the discussion into everyday creative work: knowing when inspiration becomes comparison, approaching logo-redesign content with empathy, attracting clients by sharing your process, and handling feedback without losing the idea. Cj also reflects on leaving agency life, the value of working with other designers, and why a fresh pair of eyes can make the work better.
In the guest’s words
“I'm a designer. I like using my hands to make things happen.”
